Leaf and Weave began as an act of love—an intentional step away from a professional career to embrace the roles that mattered most to me: caring for my ageing parents while raising my two young sons.

As a daughter, my first priority was deeply personal: to ensure that my parents remained healthy, engaged, and joyful as they aged. I wanted their days to hold purpose, creativity, and a continued sense of belonging. In choosing caregiving over career momentum, our home transformed into something more than a living space—it became a place of shared time, slower rhythms, laughter, and quiet rediscovery.

At the same time, as a mother to two boys, I became increasingly aware that the values we hope our children will carry into adulthood are shaped not merely by what we tell them, but by what they witness. I wanted my sons to grow up seeing that caring for elders is not an obligation, but a privilege. That respect, compassion, gratitude, and responsibility are woven into everyday acts of love. By involving them in the rhythms of multigenerational family life, we hope to teach them that every stage of life deserves dignity, honour, and care.

This journey would not have been possible without the unwavering support of my husband. His encouragement and belief in this dream gave me the confidence to create something meaningful—one that allowed family, purpose, and creativity to coexist. Together, we chose a path that valued presence over pace and relationships over convention.

The seeds of Leaf and Weave, however, were planted much earlier.

During my school years, my mother taught me stitching with the belief that true independence comes from having a skill of your own. What began as lessons in thread and fabric became lessons in resilience, patience, and self-reliance. Those early teachings became the cornerstone of my entrepreneurial journey and the inspiration behind Leaf and Weave.

What started as a thoughtful idea soon evolved into a collective journey. Family members and friends came together, contributing their skills, time, and encouragement. Everyday moments turned into shared creation. At the heart of this process was my mother’s natural artistry—a powerful reminder that creativity does not diminish with age, and that beauty can emerge from the most familiar routines.

Through these lived experiences, it became clear that comfort is not a luxury. It is a necessity—especially in later years. The simple acts of rest, routine, meaningful engagement, and creative expression profoundly shape wellbeing, dignity, and joy. Equally, these experiences taught us that children flourish when they grow up connected to their roots, surrounded by the wisdom and love of older generations.

When private news channels in India featured my parents’ joyful daily lives, it reaffirmed the deeper purpose behind Leaf and Weave. The story resonated not because it was extraordinary, but because it reflected something universal: meaningful ageing, purposeful activity, shared creativity, and the enduring strength of family values.

Alongside this deeply personal journey, my professional foundation in software engineering and structured release management continues to shape how Leaf and Weave operates.
